Cajun Boiled Virginia Peanuts Recipe


2 lbs Raw in the Shell Virginia Peanuts
3 oz dry crab boil seasoning
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup Cajun seasoning
4 1/2 quarts cold water


(1) Unless using fresh "green" peanuts, soak peanuts in cold water for 8 hours

(2) Add all ingredients to a large stock pot and bring to a roiling boil

(3) Cover the pot and reduce heat to medium-high

(4) Boil peanuts for at least 6 hours. Add more water as necessary.

(5) Peanuts are done when they slip easily out of their shells and are soft to touch.

(6) Remove the pot from the heat and let stand for up to 1 hour.

(7) Drain and serve warm.

(8) May be refrigerated for up to 1 week. Reheat in microwave.
